Robert Rauschenberg: Gluts - Peggy Guggenheim Venice

The "Gluts", works that Rauschemberg meant as expressions of glut, excess, surplus of supply, are some ofrty sculptures created by the artist intermittently from 1986 to 1995. He began the series in the 1980s, when he turned toward an exploration of the visual properties of metal. Assembling found metal objects such as gasstation signs, deteriorated automotive and industrial parts littering the landscape, he transformed the scrap-metal dertus into wall reliefs and freestanding sculptures that recalled his earlier combines.

A year after the artist's death hte prestigious Collections pay tribute druing the high season fo contemporary art in Venice to one of the greatest and most influential American artists in the postwar generation.
